Patron edition!

Howdy! I was going to write this in the main body, but I decided only to tell patrons.

I've been thinking about writing about is grief. I've been taking notes on it for a while, and this week I was reminded why this book matters. A bully I know lost a partner, and my reaction to it was one of literal physical empathy. Also, an ex-Mozilla colleague died this week, and again, I felt the cold fingers of mortality. I know grief, and I have been thinking about exploring it more...academically. I've even thought of trying to get an advance for this one. Idk how the publishing industry works though, and I'm a bit too busy to put proper attention at this. So, you know, don't get your hopes up.

How are you doing? What's happening in your life? Hit reply.

Maybe I'm a nihilist

Trying to find the original designer. Maybe Serj Tankian? 15 minutes of searching did me no good...
We shouldn't be "cutting down on niceties" in this day and age. We need to slow down. Look, I'm not going to lie, when people send me a long email, it takes me time to get back to them. I try to keep mine brief. But I read people's "novels" because ffs they're humans, and sometimes there's some context that is useful.

Divided we fall, and political landscapes and economic inequality reflect that the system isn't the right system. That's why when I went to talk to a bunch of teenagers this week, I went full radical and anti-capitalist. They were not enthused. Didn't give a toss. 70 tenth graders in the middle of Germany didn't know what Fridays for Future is. I switched gears and talked about traveling, jumping out of airplanes, activist training with Greenpeace. They didn't care about that either. Blank faces. I was reminded why I specialized in ADULT education. Groups of teenagers depress me to no end. They reawaken my nihilism.

Maybe I'm a productive nihilist

I haven't read this, but I stumbled upon Nolen Gertz while looking for an image, and I want to judge this book by its cover
Except that nihilist or not, I can't sit still. Also this week, I wrote a short blog about winning that award I won and fielded a lot of "related" requests (Read: not particularly valuable). I also worked on a couple proposals, did client work, tinkered around with ongoing maintenance, gave feedback on a design and hung out with the co-op. Oh, and I visited a Salesforce office, broke a sweat in a fake phone booth, read the entire wikipedia article on River Phoenix, learned that the Dystopia Tracker is offline :( and also talked to those darn kids.

I've been thinking about writing again, having finished Maybe Zombies last June. I still plan to revisit the ending, but lately I haven't had time. I am, however, pleased that I predicted augmented reality contact lenses in Maybe Zombies and NOW THEY'RE REAL.

Hey - if you read Maybe Zombies, would you mind writing a testimonial? I only have one so far. If not, you'd like it. It's funny and gross and a good escape from all the things.

Maybe I need help?

Enough.
