Maybe I'm successful

A still from the new multimedia series I worked on.
I waited so long to share this collaboration between a Greenpeace (global non-profit) and Red Hat (a giant open source tech company). So long. Over a year and a half. It's finally here. I did this. It's big.

It wasn't easy, read this conversation with "Gina", I know who she's talking about and that guy hates my guts. He isn't the only one.

I used to think I had a "love/hate" personality. It seemed true, people either loved me or they hated me. There was no in-between. No "Oh, yeah, Laura, she's ok." I used to think, "it's just a personality thing, some people aren't going to like you."

Maybe that's true, but it's not a love/hate thing. It's a respect/threat thing. Do you know how to deal with people who feel threatened by you? Because, like, I'm a competent, intelligent woman and no matter how I carry myself, whether I speak my truth or kowtow for the fragile egos, I can't win. This seems to come up a lot in tech. It's very taxing.

But also I spent time this week in London with We Are Open Co-op, and they make me feel respected. We had a client meeting that went really well, and we went to an art museum together and talked about the state of our co-op. It was a good, good start to the week.

Once (well, not once, actually but go with me on this) I found a book in a "take this crap" free box someone put outside, read the jacket, shrugged and read it on the way home. I didn't know the author. The book was called "Blink" and it was a real pile of trash. Nonfiction but just the most gigantic bunch of bull. It was so bad, I decided then and there that whomever this guy was, he should be kept away from.the public. It was Malcolm Gladwell. And he was saying nothing at all.

People who know me well have probably heard my repeat people theory. Basically, the theory is that some people repeat so that the real folks don't feel alone in the world. My brain recently combined this with simulation theory, and now I'm looking for the crease in the computer.

I'm also always wondering about the parallelisms of existence. If you change one step, alter your path or have it altered for you what happens to the alternate timelines?

Maybe I need help?

Maybe Zombies needs more of my attention. I started making changes that the proofreader sent through, but then I got distracted by work. You know, using the buttons below sends messages directly to the creative anarchy bit of my brain...
