I'm on my way to see an old friend this weekend, so I've been rather brief. At some point the energy and enthusiasm is going to come back, right?

Maybe I'm reading

There is no reason to include these duckies from here other than DUCKIES.
Quandary - does anyone notice if I skip a week on this newsletter? Does anyone really expect it every Friday or is it more like "Oh yeah, Freshly Brewed Thoughts, forgot about that, it must be Friday!"? Just curious.

I'm an internet person, in case you missed that vis รก vis my usual winching about non-internet seeming topics like capitalism and feminism, nonprofits and mental health. As an internet person, I've had my heart in my throat a couple times upon discovering that a hacker is trying to phish me.

"It may be possible to microdose without writing a book or personal essay about it, but the evidence suggests otherwise." Hahaha. I might be a tech bro.

I rabbit-holed into a couple of interesting links from Ian O'Byrne's newsletter.
This paper says that social media has a protective social quality, and I found myself remembering that studies like this are always a bit slanted. Sure, social media helps us stay connected, but it also exposes us to the dumpster fire of humanity. I started thinking about that in an article, and then stopped writing it because I didn't know where I was going. Something about systemic inequality and different starting lines, I guess.

Plant a tree this weekend. Or better yet, plant a trillion trees after traveling back in time hundred years or so.

Maybe I need help?

It's late and I am traveling tomorrow. I'm thinking about going abroad without my computer (gasp), hence the short newsletter.
