Maybe I'm sullen

This week I spent loads of time big braining around a mess of unstructured and unruly information for one of our long running Greenpeace projects. It's an internal training programme, highly interesting, but under NDA and building on a legacy of stuff that never had a thorough pedagogical eye on it. I often think the work I do is obvious and not particularly complicated, but this week I was reminded that I'm actually, like, an expert. Those educational philosophy courses weren't for nothing, I suppose, and damned if my brain wasn't weakened by the task of culling this mountain of stuff. I'm exhausted by it and nowhere near "finished". Other projects proceeded with hiccups and impediments and I've not been able to find R & R.

On Tuesday evening I had nightmares in Ukraine as I've been following the situation a little too closely. It is an 8 hour and 42 minute drive to the Ukrainian border, says Google. I live in a country reliant on Russian exports. Add to that a fondness for all the Eastern European countries and their people with their overtly cynical and sometimes hilarious pessimism, and I'd have to say that my empathy is turned up to a Laura-unhealthy level. I feel "too much". I take it all "too seriously". I wish I wasn't like this.
I've managed to train myself not to give a toss about a wide variety of things.

I don't care about fashion, for example, and am happily wearing an old EFF sweatshirt atop an old Rocky Horror Picture Show tank top and sweatpants. I am able to listen to family members say bonkers shit about politics without caring that their facts aren't straight. I stopped giving a toss about what people think of me, for the most part anyway.

I do so wish I could stop giving a toss about the geopolitical, environmental and socioeconomic situations that impede humanity's efforts to become a more evolved species.

Maybe I need help?

Apologies for the brevity this week. I've just been watching the news and wondering what we are all doing.
