Improving the Accessibility of ‘The Tao of WAO’ Podcast

originally posted on WAO blog

We’re excited to bring you some news about our podcast, The Tao of WAO. If you’ve been following us, you’ll know we’ve recently released Season 6, where we’ve discussed all things related to cooperatives and the future of work.

Our final two episodes of the season are a deep-dive into the knowledge and insights we’ve gained over seven years of operating our worker co-op, We Are Open. The conversation between our members is filled with a mixture of hard-earned wisdom and thought-provoking ideas that we’re keen to share with you.

In addition to the new content, we’ve made some changes to enhance the accessibility of our podcast. We’re delighted to announce that all episodes now feature transcripts, thanks to the efforts of Ben Belshaw. He’s worked efficiently, creating and updating web pages and using Sonix.ai to help with create the transcripts. Since we’ve used AI, please do note that our transcripts are imperfect! If you find something you think we should update, do get in touch!

By adding transcripts to our podcast, we are taking steps towards making The Tao of WAO more inclusive, ensuring all members of our community can engage with our content. It’s also useful if you want to quote a section, as Anne recently needed to for her thesis. You can find the transcripts on our Learn with WAO website, while the podcast remains available on SoundCloud and all the usual podcast platforms.

Looking ahead, we’re preparing for Season 7, focusing to some extent on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Further out on the horizon we’re planning to delve into the future of new literacies, such as media literacy and AI literacy. We wrote about this season in Shaping a Media Literate Society: Exploring the Future Landscape of Media and Information Literacy. If you’d like to preview some of that work, visit our project page at ailiteracy.fyi.

We’re delighted with these improvements and plans for upcoming seasons, and we’d love to hear your thoughts. So why not join us on our journey to explore the intersection of technology, society, and internet culture? All you have to do is visit Learn with WAO and press play!
