Join the Keep Badges Weird Community Call!

cross-posted on WAO blog

The Keep Badges Weird community is steadily growing, and it comes at a perfect time. People who are interested in Open Recognition, people who are using badges for new and weird things, these folks need a place to discuss the world of open badges. A place that is community driven, a place in which we reflect on our world and what community and kindness can do to make it a better place.

Keep Badges Weird is just that: we’ve been having fun making the world a better place by inventing stealth badges, starting discussions, reflecting on the open badges ecosystem, wondering aloud about market forces and otherwise grouping together to see how our networks can push forward communities of practice in the 21st century.

Keep Badges Weird is maturing as a community, and if there’s one thing that growing communities need, it’s synchronous interaction.

It is no secret that I absolutely LOVE community calls. The how-to guide I wrote years ago is one of my all time most shared posts. So imagine how absolutely jazzed I am to get a Keep Badges Weird community call going. We know that community calls are excellent ways to build solidarity and connections.

This community is exploring the intersection between communities of practice and badges, and we’ve got big ideas to play around with. Joining the call will provide the KBW community with immediate value! Your voice, your enthusiasm and even your presence will change the dynamic of the room and we heartily invite you all to come and join us.

Mark your calendar for next Thursday, February 10th at 16:00 UTC. Here’s a handy timezone converter.

Not a member of the KBW community yet? Join, introduce yourself, have a look around and then join us on Thursday, February 10th!
