Maybe I'm global

My time away eliminated the feeling that I'm not living an adventurous life. I saw my old friend the Arctic Sunrise, and though I didn't die, I did spend two weeks with adrenaline and cortisol pumping through my veins. I blew around the Adriatic in Bora Wind. The Bora was early, and it was strong. I was windblown and surfing Poseidon's rage tears. I needed the vastness of the ocean though, so (mostly in hindsight) I'm glad I was on it.

We released a new Tao of WAO episode this week in preparation for next week's Badge Summit. We'll be running a participatory session at the Summit and doing our best to "Keep Badges Weird". We've been working on a social learning experience with Participate, and Summit attendees will have a first look. Keep Badges Weird is a community looking at the intersection of badges and communities of practice. We haven't written about the project since June, so that's on my to-do list for next week.

Maybe I'm hopeful

In addition to our Keep Badges Weird episode, this week we recorded a new episode with Kudzayi Ngwerume, a former Greenpeace colleague of mine. Her insight and experience on movement building made for a great episode, so I'm looking forwarded to editing that next week. There's a whole world out there, right at the edge of our peripheral vision. We need to turn our faces towards things to be able to see it all.
COP26 (United Nations Climate Change Conference) is right around the corner and as I do a lot of work with climate focused non-profits, the air lately is pretty pensive. We are all wondering whether or not our governments will take meaningful action. With the current state of affairs, it's easy to lose hope. If you're feeling cynical or filled with climate anxiety in the lead up to COP26, have a read of the recent Future Crunch I link to below. It's long, but even if you don't click a single source, you'll be singing with butterflies and dancing to rainbows, or whatever elicits positivity in you.

Maybe I need help?

I need a bit of routine back, the last weeks haven't had a discernible pattern, and I feel myself careening. I need to regain control.

What about you? What have you been working on/thinking about/ lately? Anything you want to share?
