Announcing Planet 4

It’s time to tear down Greenpeace.org and rebuild it for the modern web. The content strategy, design, and voice of Greenpeace.org will be updated to represent the organization we want to be and the kind of community we want to become.

We want to involve YOU, the users, staff, volunteers and Greenpeace enthusiasts to ensure that our new web presence represents the entire Greenpeace community. A core team, including yours truly along with 5 others at Greenpeace, will facilitate the process and make sure to take your feedback into account.

We want to ensure that the story we’re telling with Greenpeace.org is the true story of our network, not just the edited, polished versions of our campaigns and research. We want that story to connect with and inspire people. We want to provide a place where people are motivated to take action and help us make the world a better place.

We’ve given this new Greenpeace.org project the code name Planet 4 (or P4 for short and #GPP4 for social channels), and we hope you get involved. Whoever you are – activist, student, copywriter, designer, developer, moderately interested party – we want to make sure YOUR voices are heard. So, we have committed to keeping this process as transparent and accessible as we possibly can.

We’ve developed this Communication Plan and it’s supporting Open Decision Framework to help you understand how we will run this project and why we want to run it in this way.

We will be writing about and sharing our process along the way. Please follow our Medium Publication. We welcome you to comment on our posts, share ideas, get in touch. Find other ways to stay up to date by bookmarking our wiki page.

We’re looking forward to working with you. If you’d like to get in touch, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter, email me (laura.hilliger[at]greenpeace.org] or join our newsgroup and send us all an email!
